About the Book
Haylee has returned to Cedar Cove to take care of Grams after her recent fall. Cedar Cove holds unpleasant memories for Haylee, the murder of her parents and her first love, Rhett, a decade ago. On the anniversary of this tragedy, another murder rocks the small town sparking Haylee's journalist instinct. Jack, the new town sheriff, thinks Haylee is in over her head. He's handsome, nice, and annoying... Then there's Reed, a local worker, who has uncanny similarities to Rhett. Haylee must now figure out the walls these men have up, what secrets they are hiding, and who she can trust.
Quick Review (Spoiler Free)
I was hooked with the subgenre of romantic suspense. I love a good mystery book, and when it’s spicy, that’s an added bonus. The characters were great. I loved the dynamic with the love triangle between Lennon, Jack, and Reed. This story had me guessing and trying to plan out my own imagination of what was happening the whole way through.
Now, let's get into the details!!
I will say hands down that my favorite part of this whole book was Grams. Her meddlesome behavior plus the wholesome granny attitude was the best combination for a hilarious add in to the book. She is the whole reason that Lennon has returned to town and her input into Lennon's love life just makes me giggle.
The characters were great. I loved the dynamic with the love triangle between Lennon, Jack, and Reed (especially the Thanksgiving encounter). I found myself debating who I wanted to side with in this one. Normally I feel like I have a pretty good idea of whose team I will stand on but this one made me think about it.
Even though the book had a slow start to it, the plot soon hooked me and sent me flying through the rest of the book. I predicted one of the twists but not the other, which is a win in my opinion!
I would like to thank LoveNotes PR and Charli Cotner for this ARC opportunity!
