Quick Review (Spoiler Free)

This was such a cute and easy read for me. I did not read the first two as I didn't realize this was part of a series when I picked it up, but it was a good standalone book. The nods to other characters did make me want to check out the other books in the series. The pacing was great and the story was super relaxed and cute. The main characters had great banter. I love a good mutual pining between rivals storyline.

Now, let's get into the details!!

I really enjoyed the concept of this book. I also love when I can pick up a standalone and truly feel like it doesn't tie to hard into the other books. There were a few characters in this that I knew where likely in books one and two but it didn't take too much away from what was going on... more just the backstory aspect.

I think as far as plot and pacing, as I said, the story felt like it flowed really well the whole way through. It was a very cozy story even though it had some heavy references within it. The whole thing just felt like a light, carefree read to me. I was able to read it in two sittings.

I almost wished that this one was just a little longer so we would’ve had more time to explore this story. There were four types of creatures mentioned in this book and of course I knew that dragons would be the focus based on the title but I really would've like to explore the other creatures some more.

I also don’t know if the other books are like this but it says "baby dragon” a LOT and I don’t know if that’s to really point out the differences in the babies vs the adults. This is just a personal irk of mine but it didn’t really detract from the overall story and feel too much.

I would like to thank Netgalley, Harper Collins, and A.T. Qureshi for this eARC opportunity!
