About the Book
Kiela has always preferred books to people, spending her time working as a librarian in the magical Great Library. Magic is strictly controlled by the empire. When a revolution comes in and begins to destroy the library, Kiela flees to her home island with her companion, Caz - a sentient spider plant. Kiela and Caz attempt to save as much as they can on her the way out. Kiela starts a small spellshop for income in her old home, with the smuggled spellbooks, while trying to stay under the radar. As she begins to blend back in with the local community she begins to develop feelings for her charming neighbor who offers to help her.
Quick Review (Spoiler Free)
Oh, how I wish I could read this for the first time again. I am EXTREMELY ready for more books in this universe.
This truly is a cozy fantasy with a tame romance tied in. It is such a wholesome read and Larran was the most caring person. He seems to really ground Kiela in the midst of the chaos.
The characters were all so unique and likeable. Kiela was so relatable and adorable. And Caz, honestly, was funny and my favorite part of this story.
This book had the right mix of main storyline that was adventurous and intriguing, with plenty of side plots and characters. I really hope we get to see more of Caz's background and Bryn's backstory!
