About the Book
Violet has never been anywhere but the Mountain Realm due to a rare heart condition. She lives a quiet happy life and has a secret, forbidden relationship with Callum, the Sovereign of the realm. It is a rule of the land that the realm's Sovereigns must marry with another royal bloodline from another realm. After Callum's father's death, he is sent to the Night Realm to begin his engagement to the sister of the Night Realm's Sovereign. Violet finds herself thrust to the Night Realm and forced to watch the man she loves with another woman. And even worse, the Sovereign of the Night Realm has taken on a particular interest in her. Violet begins to learn that her world is not what it seems and must fight an internal battle between her heart and her head.
Quick Review (Spoiler Free)
I powered through this book. The further I got into, the more hooked I was. The love triangle for Violet felt purposeful as you could see that she was truly torn in her situation and had motivation behind her to choose. Nothing felt overly forced in this book, even though there was some behind the scenes set up done before the reader picks up the story. The pacing picks up as the events unfold which gives meaning to what is happening. And the connections between all of the characters and several of their backstories was really interesting!
Now, let's get into the details!!

I have been trying to figure out how I wanted to write this review for weeks. I absolutely loved this book and will be reading the sequel as soon as I have a chance!
I read a lot of negative reviews and a lot of them are negative because they are comparing this to other books or expecting high levels of spice. I honestly really liked the story behind this and the banter had me giggling the whole time.
Yes, I could predict some of the story but that happens in a lot of books we read and it doesn't ruin the vibe for me. I'm also okay with coming into a story that already has it's cards in play, so to speak, as long as the rest of the story picks it up and runs with it. For me, this story did that. There was enough backtracking to tell me about the characters without giving me 80 years worth of filler.
The relationship mix between Violet to Calum, Calum to Nathara, and Violet to Sebastian was well written. I really like the way you got to see Violet overcome adversity as the story progressed. I did not see the heart condition twist but I did really love the way the reveal set up the way for the story to continue. To me, this is definitely worth reading if you like fantasy plots with romance sprinkled into the mix.
