Evie Emberson is trouble and chaos in a pretty package. She is a hacker, she is wild, and she refuses to be held back. Aiden Hayes is her brother's best friend and ordered protector. He lives by Rook's #1 rule: Evie is off limits. After Evie blackmails Aiden to get him to help her dig into her past, he begins to question how long he can follow the rules.

Quick Review (Spoiler Free)
As soon as this popped up to apply for I jumped on it! I loved Rook & Rebel and was excited to read Evie’s story. She is such a fun character and her story was great. I really enjoyed the dynamic between her and Aiden. The events of the book subtly drove the romance in such a nice way. I started to see the twist a the end and even though I got the ‘who’ I was not even close on the ‘why’. Such a wild ride!
Now, let's get into the details!!

I was really loving Evie's personality throughout this book. I like the reckless nature she has and that she genuinely does not care, especially when she is supported by her family. But when her family questions this, she then gets pissed. And rightfully so. They have a lot of family-realistic spats and make ups. It just made that part of the story feel more genuine.
What I didn't love was the weapon play in one of the spicy bike scenes. I'm not a huge fan of this in general and that's really the only thing that threw me off from giving this five stars. I get that their personalities match that energy but it really pulled me out of the story and just gave me weird feelings. I know that some of you guys probably love it and that's totally cool. Just not for me.
Thank you to Kate Crew, Netgalley, and Harper Voyager for the eARC opportunity.
