Every soul bears a mark, Luminar or Shadowmarked. This determines their fate. Amaria was marked with both, the first dual-marked soul. Eryndor, the Crownforged, is sworn to bring her to the Crown. Bound by prophecy, Amaria must either heal the world or tear it apart before she is caught.

Quick Review (Spoiler Free)
Oh man, I tried to pace myself through this one knowing that it’s part one of a trilogy and that I knew I was going to want the second book. But goodness was I wrong about how badly I would need book two. I did not expect the impact of this ending.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. There was a central goal that united them all but the author did a great job of giving them all personality that made them stand apart. I was a little hesitant when the tension with the MCs hit as fast as it did but when I say this is a slow burn... man is it a SLOW BURN. Like I kept waaaaiting. And now I need book two so I can see what happens between them!

Now, let's get into the details!!

The only really interesting thing that threw me off was the introduction of the dragon at the end. I really need book two to explain that big reveal.
I thought initially that it was going to create a love triangle between Amaria, Eryndor, and Maxx. But I think it's adorable that the author put Maxx and Serenya together. I didn't see that coming and it made it such a cute interaction when it was revealed.
I am also very curious about Dreadscale and his background. I'm sure that we will get more when we get the dragon explanation, or at least that's my hope.

I would like to thank Celeanna Dorrington for this eARC opportunity!
