About the Book

Colson has watched his brother, Dax, repeatedly screw up with Kennedy. After every break up they wind up back together. He's always had a thing for Kennedy and now is his chance to prove himself. He knows Kennedy pretends to hate him, so when the opportunity to work at her grandmother's bar comes up he wastes no time. Colson is determined to do Dax dirty, just as was done to him; and prove that Kennedy wants him and that he can steal her away.

Quick Review (Spoiler Free)

I love when a romance can make me feel the feels. This story was dramatic, spicy, and again, a confident and hot man after the girl he wants. Colson knows he wants Kennedy but the problem is that his brother, Dax, beat him to her. Kennedy is forced to work with Colson and has to figure out if she chose the wrong brother. Oh, and her best friend is their sister. Drama. Drama. Drama. This is such a good “ex’s brother”, love triangle, slow burn, sexy confident MMC read. Colson knows all the right things to say to Kennedy to make her get out of her head. Plus the bar scene is absolutely hot.

Now, let's get into the details!!

So the tension stems from Kennedy and Dax dating since high school. They are your typical on again off again relationship plus the fact that Dax is an asshole. So naturally we insert Colson, Dax's little brother, to shake things up.

Kennedy is in a forbidden romance / love triangle situation in this book as 1) Colson has a younger age gap, 2) Colson is her on/off ex's little brother, and 3) her best friend is their little sister. We also have a forced proximity situation when Colson begins working at her grandmother's bar that she is trying to take over. All sub-tropes that I love in a romance.

I honestly wish we could have gotten a little more character development. The characters were great but it just felt very "here they are". I found myself rooting for Colson the whole time because he had to work for her attention where Dax just expected it... what a jerk.

The pacing of the story felt appropriate given Kennedy's feelings and decisions as the book progressed and the storyline was great. And man, the chemistry between Kennedy and Colson is so hot!
