About the Book

Told from Kvothe himself, he recounts his life as a magically gifted young man who became a notorious wizard to a traveling scribe. Now, Kvothe lives quietly as an innkeeper. His story traces his childhood among traveling performers, being orphaned in a crime-ridden city, and his struggle to survive before he earned a place at a legendary school of magic. As Kvothe reveals his past, we are presented with music, mystery, and the pursuit of powerful knowledge.

Quick Review (Spoiler Free)

I loved the storytelling the most. I feel like the was the narration was written was a simple concept that was able to paint a detailed picture as if you were just reading a story and not listening to one. I love that it expressed the character's emotions, love for music, and how he progressed through life from childhood. While there is a lot of plot and world building throughout the story it felt smooth and not overwhelming. It was very easy to get into the feel of the story from the beginning. I have been patiently waiting for book three (which is still unreleased) before starting number two because I don't want it to be over.
